PALESTINE PROBLEMS
THE BRITISH WHITE PAPER MANDATES COMMISSION MEETS PRIME MINISTER’S ASSURANCE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, June 13 The Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations to-day began the study at Geneva of the report of the British Government on the administration of Palestine for 1938. The meeting was attended by Mr S. Moody, Chief Secretary in Palestine, and Mr A. S. Kirkbride, British Resident in Transjordan. The Commission will begin the examination of the British While Paper on Palestine probably to-mor-row, when the Colonial Secretary, Mr Malcolm MacDonald, will reach Geneva. The Prime Minister, Mr Chamberlain, was asked in the House of Commons to-day if he would give assurances that the doctrine of Cabinet responsibility was being fully maintained, having regard to the fact that two Cabinet Ministers were absent unpaired from the division on the Government’s Palestine proposals. In reply, Mr Chamberlain said his colleagues accepted full responsibility for collective Cabinet decisions.
