TE AROHA MEMORIAL
CENTENNIAL SCHEME DECIDED PARK AND DOMAIN IMPROVEMENTS (By Telegraph.—Special to Time*) TE AROHA, Thursday At a well attended public meeting it was decided that the centennial memorial for Te Aroha should be improvements to Herries Park, Te Aroha, and the sports domain. Herriesville, on the basis of two to one, the larger sum for Herries Park. About £2OOO. including a Government subsidy of £SOO, will be expended. The estimates for the work set out are £075 for the sports domain and £I3OO for Herries Park. Other proposals considered were an up-to-date gymnasium; a chiming town clock: a memorial to two former mayors, Messrs Norrell and Stanley; a home for young children while the mothers are ill in hospital or away on holiday; a memorial to the Maori chief, Mokene, the original owner of the principal part of the Te Aroha borough
