Association that the date originally I fixed for the 1939 inter-provincial ! eight-oared championship be amended i was considered at a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur j Rowing Association. It was pointed out that delegates at i the annual meeting of the association ! had made it quite clear they desired the race to be held on Easter Saturday. 1 To keep faith with local associations it I was decided to ask the Otago Assof elation to state within a week whether j it was still prepared to hold the fixhire on. Easter Saturday, failing which I it would lie necessary to offer the fixj ture to Canterbury for that date, the Canterbury Association having been i the other association lo apply for the i “eights” for 1939.
