NOT RECEIVED

LETTER TO BOROUGH COUNCIL OBJECTIONS OF MR E. J. DAVEY On the motion of the Mayor, Mr H. D. Caro, the Hamilton Borough Council last evening decided not to receive a letter from a former town clerk, Mr E. J. Davey, dealing with the Mayor's reply to previous criticisms by Mr Davey of the. council’s decision to seek authority for the holding of loan polls for borough works. Objection was taken by Mr Caro to the tone of the opening paragraph of Mr Davey’s second letter which suggested that influence had been brought to bear, to suppress portions of his original criticism. Commenting on this suggestion. Mr Caro said it was “ most undignified.” Had no such suggestion been made he would have moved that the letter be received. The Mayor’s motion, that the letter be not received, was carried, Mr C. Lafferty dissenting.
