HAMILTON SPORTS CLUB

SUCCESSFUL OPEN MEETING VARIED PROGRAMME PRESENTED The Hamilton Sports Club held a most successful open meeting at Steele Park yesterday. Conditions were excellent, and there was a large number of competitors and spectators. A long and varied programme of children's races, athletic, cycle and field events, in addition to novelty and Maori events was presented. A “ greasy pig catching ” contest drew* a large field. The haconer proved most elusive, and it was some considerable time beTore the successful pighunter. F. Poi, landed a fall. Items Avere given during the afternoon by a Maori concert party, who also were busily occupied in selling cooked foods to further the campaign for the Maori Hotel funds. Highland dancing was conducted by the Hamilton Caledonian Society, and the efforts of the numerous competitors drew loud applause. Proceedings were kept up to the mark with a public-address system.
