Copyright) (Received Jan. 3, 3.15 p.m.) CAPETOWN, Jan. 2 The weather was fine and the wicket easy for the resumption of play today. # Hammond was very unenterprising early in his innings and was dropped when he was 63. He took 209 minutes to reach liis century and in all batted 336 minutes. His score included 16 fours. Ames was in fine form and punished all bowlers. He gave a difficult chance when he was 26 but altogether gave a sparkling display. He batted 144 minutes and hit 13 fours. Verity kept up his end while Valentine piled on the rims. He drove with great power reaching his century in 78 minutes.
