BUDGET BRIDE TROUSSEAU
BY HOLLYWOOD DESIGNER Summer brides are advised to check their trousseaus and note the following- suggestions made by Robert Kalloch, head designer at Columbia Studios. Kalloch, who has just finished designing clothes for Anne Shirley and Nan Grey to wear in Columbia's “Girls’ School,’’ worked out the following group of costumes for the summer bride. All of the clothes will come well under a nominal budget allowance and have the added glamour of carrying milady well intto the next season. Two print frocks with dark backgrounds and bright colours are Kalloch’s first “musts” in the group. Over these a light-weight wool redingote coat in a dark colour. Add a picture or sun-warding hat, simple cotton gloves and black patent accessories. Also a light-weight tailored suit in either dark blue or brown pin stripe, worn wth a panama banded with Roman stripe. With this buy a separate contrasting skirt. This costume may be worn throughout, the year for travelling or a day in town, and. according to the hat worn, can either be tailored or slightly more formal. A summer evening dress, print again, with a matching jacket making it appropriate for dinner or more formal evening, and worn with a flowing velvet cape, is also included in the wardrobe. Simple lingeria and several pairs of shoes finish off this basic wardrobe. Kalloch suggests that accessories be few, but extremely good, to add zest and dash to these costumes.
