Copyright) LONDON Dec. 29 The growing resentment of Italian and German interference is the cause ascribed to the just-discovered rebellion and espionage among Spanish Nationalist forces. One report estimates that there have been 1000 arrests in the Nationalist territory under General Franco’s administration. The arrests followed a house-to-house purge of the principal military towns. It is admitted that the Nationalist authorities are “very much disturbed by friction among the troops.” It is reported that a number of Italian soldiers have been waylaid, killed and then hanged upon trees in the neighbourhood of Burgos, the Nationalist headquarters. Mr J. Rattenbury, variously described as a commercial attache, messenger and vallet-chauffeur in the service of the British diplomatic corps in General Franco's territory, is said to have been detained, with his wife, for questioning by the authorities.
