SERIES OVER HOLIDAYS DEATH OF MOTOR-CYCLIST MACHINE RUNS OYER BANK Mr Henry Albert Williams (35), single, an employee of the Matamata County Council, who suffered a fractured skull when, following the bursting of a tyre, his motor-cycle ran over a bank at Tirau on Saturday night, died in the Waikato Hospital last evening. A Maori who was a pillion rider on the machine escaped injury. An inquest was opened at the Waikato Hospital to-day before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., coroner. Evidence of identification was given by Williams’ brother, Alfred August Williams, and Ihe inquest was adjourned sine die. WAIHI MOTOR BMABH TE AROHA BOY’S DEATH (By Telegraph—Press Association) WAIHI, Thursday One of the victims of the motorcar accident on Saturday evening at the intersection of Seddon and Martin Roads, Waihi, William Hughes (8), son of Mr D. J. Hughes, of Te Aroha, died of his injuries in the Waihi Hospital this morning. FALL FROM CHIMNEY Falling 40ft. from the top of a chimney at the Steel Construction Company’s works. New Lynn, yesterday Mr Louis Charles Chaillet, married (31), of Mount Wellington, suffered serious injuries. CANTERBURY CRABHES THREE PERSONS IN HOSPITAL (By Telegraph—Press Association) ASHBURTON, Wednesday Three patients are in hospital in a serious condition as the result of motor accidents. One is Desmond Withell (6), son of Mr and Mrs R. J. S. Withell, of Ashburton, who was run over by a car on emerging from the rear of another vehicle. He sustained abdominal injuries and also an injury to his head. The other victims are Mr Norman Shannon (20), and % Mr Alan Benjamin Richards (18)’, of Rakaia, who were injured when their motor-cycle collided with a car near Rakaia. Mr Shannon suffered a broken leg and abrasions and concussion, and Mr Richards suffered concussion. It was reported this evening that Withell’s condition was serious. FOUR YOUTHS INJURED OVERTURNING OF TRUCK When a light truck overturned on a steep hill leading to Brown’s Bay, Auckland, last night the driver, Ernest A. Anderson (19), of Takapuna, suffered concussion and a possible fracture of the skull and his condition is serious. Another passenger, Leonard Verdun Markley-Lowrie (18), of Milford, received a serious injury to the back and arm. His condition is also serious.

Other passengers whose conditions are not serious were ,Phillip Napier Hunter (12), of Balmoral, and Duncan Kenneth Howe (20), of Takapuna. Part of the cab had to be sawn away before some of the youths could be released.
