BETTING INCREASES

NEW ZEALAND MEETINGS RETURNS FOR BOXING DAY The total receipts of the five racing clubs and the three trotting clubs that held meetings yesterday was £283,189 10s, whereas last year the returns of five racing clubs and four trotting clubs was £274,054 10s. Investments last year showed an increase of £24.352, compared with Boxing Day, 1936. The returns of racing clubs this year totalled £217,430 10s, and those of trotting clubs £65,759. Details of the Boxing Day investments this year, compared with those of last year, are as follows:
