June Barson In Hamilton June Barson, the Auckland girl who won the New Zealand Deanna Durbin contest, is in Hamilton, and will sing at the Regent Theatre for a season commencing to-day. Miss Barson, who is quite unspoilt by her success, has a voice of beautiful quality. She has been coached by Mrs D. Blacklaws (better known as Ruth Scott). Cecil Kelleway Unhappy Cecil Kelleway, formerly very popular on the musical comedy stage In Australia and New Zealand, has started work on his fourth Hollywood picture since his arrival three months ago. The new film is “ It Couldn’t Happen Again.” Kellaway is still unhappy over his luck in Hollywood, despite the number of pictures he has been given. He feels his roles to date have been unsuited to him. How Time Files ! A prominent film actress is going to re-marry her first husband. Well, well, how time flies I Is it bis’ turn again ? * Sequel to “ Victoria the Great ” Herbert Wilcox will follow the success of “ Victoria the Great ” with ‘‘ Victoria and Albert." The film, covering the' period between Victoria’s wedding and her death, goes into production on April 13, with the same cast that appeared in 44 Victoria the Great.” It will be produced in Te'chnicolour throughout. John Barrymorp Collapses The film actor, John Barrymore, has been admitted to hospital in Hollywood, after a collapse on location.. His wife said that he was stricken with ptomaine poisoning, but insisted on continuing with his work. His condition is not considered serious. Gloria Swanson Not Wanted All attempts to bring Gloria Swanson back to the screen have failed. The star of other days has finally decided to give up her mansion in Beverley Hills. She is dismantling the house and is saying good-bye to her friends. She leaves for New York shortly to make permanent residence there, and her children will Join her at the end of the school session. Hollywood was the scene of many triumphs for Gloria Swanson in the “ silent ” days. There is talk of her trying the legitimate stage in New York. Quins’ Third Film 44 Everybody's Sweethearts ” will be the name of the Dionne quintuplets’ third feature film, which Twentieth Century-Fox will begin to 44 shoot ” in June. Jean Hersholt will again fill the role of their doctor. The quins, who are convalescing from colds, were allowed up for a short while. “ They’ll soon resume their outdoor activities,” commented Dr. Dafoe, their medical guardian. Dog Asta Starred in Films Asta, of 44 The Thin Man,” alias Mr Smith of 44 The Awful Truth,” has won recognition of his talents at last. M-G-M will star the terrier in a series of shorts. There has been no great canine favourite of the screen since Rin-Tin-Tin. The “ Low-down ” on Hollywood Cedric Belfrage, once the most discussed film critic in Fleet-street, has followed up his autobiography, “Away From it All,” with “ Promised Land,” a novel about Hollywood. It has caused a sensation In England and America, because, though it is a novel, it deals factually with most aspecls of Hollywood life, past and present. The 44 low-down ” on the film city is given in Belfrages expressive manner, and new light is thrown on the Arbuckle case, the diversion of Owens River, and Hollywood’s response to the Liberty Loan scheme. No such tale of a city has ever before been written..
