HAMILTON BUTCHERS TERMS OF NEW AWARD SCALE OF REMUNERATION (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Friday The new award for South Auckland • butchers was issued yesterday by Mr } Justice' Hunter on behalf of the Second 5 Arbitration Court. The hours of work, k holidays and closing hours for Hamilton and Rotorua boroughs were 5 agreed upon by the parties and were included at their urgent request, although the' Court expressed no opin- . ion whether or not they strictly complied with the provisions of section 69 , of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, f and its amendments. l The date of the coming into force l of the award was the' only matter referred to the Court and this, so far . as it relates to wages, shall be Janu- . ary 1, 1938. The ordinary hours of work shall not exceed 44 in any one week and in Hamilton and Rotorua they shall be spread over five days. All work done ! in excess of the hours specified shall be deemed overtime and shall be’ paid > for at the rate of time and a-half, ex- ' cept on Sunday, Christmas Day and Good Friday, when double time shall 1 be paid. ' Special provision is made for holi- ' clays and an annual holiday of one week on full pay. Closing hours are t fixed for Hamilton and Rotorua and i for outside areas are' to be governed t by the Shops and Offices Act. i Boys and youths’ wages range from j £1 5s a week for boys between 15 and 15 i years to £3 12s 6d td youths beI tween 20 and 21. No boy under 21 s shall carry quarters of beef. Other wages are as follows:—First shopmen t or men In charge', £6 ss; second i shopmen, £5 12s 6d; first small- ; goods men, £6 ss; slaughte'rmen, £5 l 12s 6d; man in charge of hawkers’ [ cart, £5 12s 6d; all other hands employed in connection with the business, £5 ss. Minimum rates of pay for female clerks and cashiers range J from 15s for girls under 17 in their first year to 55s for those in their I seventh year.
