THE STRONGER SEX
WOMEN, NOT MEN < LONDON, March 5. 1 Miss Cicely Hamilton, the authoress, - claimed before an audience of women s that women were the stronger sex, ) says the Evening News. a “We have to pay the highest rates I of insurance because we survive the t longest and are the most difficult to c kill,” she added. a Miss Hamilton was speaking at the " annual meeting of the Open Door H Council at Caxton Hall, Westminster. I One of the things to be taken into s account by those concerned for the fall in the birthrate, she said, was the present discrimination against married women workers. “There are many young girls who are earning nearly tw;oe as much as the young man with whom they walkout. “A young man earning from 30s to 35s a week is going to think twice before he asks a girl who is earning £3 a week to marry him, which means she dl may have to give up her job and live tc with him on 35s a week.”
