RIVERSIDE ROVERS MEET ELECTION OF OFFICERS At the inaugural meeting of Riverside Rovers Rugby League Club several donations were received and the club was stated to be in a sound financial position. Mr G. Turner presided. It was decided to hold a practice at the Claudelands Showgrounds tomorrow. Delegates to the junior control board were instructed to press for April 23 as being a suitable date for the opening of the 1938 season. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr R. T. Raid; president, Mr G. Turner; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Fox, S. Meltzer, J. Cleary, H. Deverell, F. W. Burley, W. R. , Shattock, Garley, Kennedy and R. Healey; secretary, Mr F. H. Webb; treasurer, Mr Hayward; committee, Messrs Curry, Robcke, Wells, Carter, Malins, Warn, Wiggins, 'Jerome and Knight. BRILLIANT PROBPECTB SOUTH AUCKLAND ASSOCIATIONREVIEW Of past season (Special to Times) HUNTLY, Thursday There was a very large attendance of members at the annual meeting of the South Auckland Rugby League Football Club held at Huntly. Visitors were present from Hamilton, Ngaruawahia, Taupiri, Pukemlro. Renown, Rotowaro and Rakaumanga. Mr R. T. Hill, or Taupiri, presided. A very satisfactory position was revealed by the balance-sheet, the#amount or assets over liabilities being £I3BB. Over £1035 had passed through the League’s hands during the year. Prospects for the coming season are brighter than they have been since the introduction or the code 20 years ago. There will be four separate senior clubs in Huntly alone, namely, Huntly, High School, Marist Brothers and Huntly South. During the coming season new junior teams from Hamilton, Rakaumanga. Marist Brothers and Rotowaro and Renown combined will also make their appearance. Last Year’s Victories The seniors during last season won the senior championship and successfully defended tne limes Memorial Shield and the Dratlin Cup. They played 20 matches, winning 18 and losing two. In the junior competition the Huntly High School Old Boys team won the Kneebone Cup and were joint winners with Ngaruawahia for the Hickey Ox Shield. They played 16 matches, won 1 1 and lost two. In the third grade competition, Huntly South proved ■ i the champion team. They played 2 0 I matches, winning 18 and drew two. They scored 19-i and had only 23 points registered against them. They won the Colt Cup and the Main Cup. In the schoolboys’ competitions Ngaruawahia. Pukerniro and Huntly fielded teams. Two official representative teams. Taranaki and Northland, visited Huntly and played against South Auckland, the local players winning by very small margins. The election of officers resulted as l follows: Patron. Mr R. J.
