By winning the second successive heat on the Derwent River this afternoon the New Zealand representative Vamp won the 1 i-footer championship of Australia. The conditions were ideal, with a steady sea breeze. Triad 'Victoria led the fiTst time round but the Vamp was skilfully sailed and overhauled the leader and crossed the line 3 minutes 12 seconds ahead of Triad. Windward Western Australia., was third, followed by Chum, and 1 Silver Spray (South Australia , Volant and Roxana Victoria), Impudence (New Zealand., White Wings Victoria, and Comedy (Western Australia). Impudence was nearly 12 minutes behind Vamp in eighth place. The points were: Vamp, 14; Triad and Impudence 3; Windward and Myrtle, 1. No third heat will be sailed. The Australian Council has decided that New Zealand is eligible to compete In the Australian championship but the races must be sailed in Australia.
