1940 OLYMPIAD

JAPAN MAY WAIVE CLAIM ,• IN FAVOUR OF ENGLAND *««n—F>c. Try Copyright (Received Feb. 12, 2.45 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 11 The Impression is growing in athletic circles that Japan will waive the 1340 Olympic Games in favour of England. Mr H. F. Pash, a member of the executive vommittee of the Amateur Athletic Association, in a speech at Chelmford declared the association was unanimous that if the 1940 Olympiad were held in Toklo it should not receive the support of British competitors. This would mean the United States and others would follow Britain’s lead. He added: “It is not a question of politics, but a matter of humanity and fair play, and fair play is the foundation of sport.”
