LEG CAUGHT ON RAILWAY LINE L(jSS OF FIORD (Dy Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday

The racehorse. Fiord, escaped from his box at the Omoto racecourse early this morning and galloped along the railway track and caught a foreleg between the sleepers on the railway bridge. The leg was broken and the horse destroyed. The five-year-old was owned jointly by Mrs Baden and Arthur Gardiner, of* Oamaru. and J. B. Pearson. the Riccarton trainer. He ran third In the Greymouth Cup on Saturday.
