Copyright CALCUTTA, Jan. 3 The Viceroy, Lord Linlithgow, inaugurated the 25th meeting of the Indian Science Congress, held jointly with the British Association for the Advancement of Science', which 100 British, Dominion and foreign scientists are attending. Sir James Jeans, in his presidential address, paid a tribute to the late Lord Rutherford, who was originally .selecte'd as president, as one of the greatest scientists of all time. He read Lord Rutherford’s intended presidential address, written shortly before his death, and containing his last utterance on his chief life work, namely, nuclear physics. The posthumous address also laid down the lines along which Indian scientific effort should be directed in I lie immediate future'.
