KAIPAKI SCHOOL

BREAK-UP CONCERT A happy evening: was spent in the Kalpakt Hall before Christmas, when the children attending- the Sunday Schoul had their annual prize-giving- and break-up concert. There was a large crowd present and everything went off well. The chair was taken by the Rev. C. W. Chandler. and the children went through a number or concert Items very pleasingly. The chairman spoke of xlie splendid work which was being done by Mrs Goodwin, a work which now extended over many years, and asked the audience lo show their appreciation to her. This was doon by giving a hearty round of applause. A senior scholar. .Marian Cunningham. asked Mrs Goodwin to accept a handsome crystal fruit dish and a bouquet. In appreciation or all she had done. Mrs Goodwin suitably acknowledged the girts. Special mention was made or Ruth Harvey. who had completed her seventh year of' perrect attendance, and had gained all the seals possible to get on her attendance diploma, which .had been framed tor her. As Ruth received it she received great applause. Eacli scholar was presented with a prize, with the following speelal prizes;- Oral work, bov, James Cowie; girl. Beryl Cowie; framed certificate 'seven years . Ruth Harvey; certificates (four years' attendance). Harold llarvey. Wallace Scott. Beryl | Cowie; three years’ attendance. James Cowie. Peter Cunningham. Marian Cunningham. Fred Willoughby. Noellne Fisher; two years’ attendance, Edward Harvey. I'oreen Boyd; one year’s attendance. Merle Weal. Doris Weal. A Fatthrr Christmas appeared later rolling a huge snowball, out «>r which toys' and balloons were distributed. l ater, a tired but happy band of children trooped into the supper-room, where justice was done to tiie viands provided. To finish up. each child received a bag or confectionery. and liiiis another delightful even lug was brought to a close.
