HAMILTON MEN INJURED MISHAP AT DUNEDIN (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN, Wednesday A car driven by Mr Arnold Brooks, of Hamilton, a visitor to Dunedin, went off the roarl near the Portobello jetty at 12.30 p.m. to-day, coming to rest in three feet of water. . Mr Brooks was admitted to hospital at 1.45 suffering from concussion and shock.
There were two passengers in the car. One, Mr Raymond Haynes, also of Hamilton,, was admitted to hospital suffering from shoulder injuries. These were attended to, and he was discharged. The other passenger was not hurt. FALLS OVER CLIFFS AUCKLAND, Thursday Mr Bernard Grenville Datchin (22), of Devonport, suffered a fracture of the right thigh, abrasions and shock when he fell over a 50ft. cliff at Great Barrier on Tuesday. He became wedged between two rocks, ana was extricated with considerable difficulty. His cohdition is fairly Serious. DARGAYILLE, Wednesday Trevor Millward (7), fell down a cliff at Maule’s Gorge yesterday, and suffered a fractured leg.
CAMBRIDGE RESIDENT HURT AUCKLAND, Thursday When travelling on the Bombay deviation, Mrs Kello Linton ** Bell, of Karapiro, Cambridge, received slight head injuries when the car her husband was driving collided with a car coming in the opposite direction. Mr Bell's car was extensively damaged. A LONELY DEATH AUCKLAND, Thursday The body of a middle-aged woman, Mrs Alice de Cebalo, was discovered yesterday in a room at a house at Herne Bay. Mrs de Cebalo was living alone and was last seen alive by neighbours early on Christmas night. She had evidently been dead for some days when Ihe body was discovered. Efforts to trace the relatives of the deceased have so far proved futile. BONE IN THE THROAT PALMERSTON N., Wednesday Unusual circumstances surround the death in hospital yesterday of Mrs Elizabeth Boon (88j, a widow. Deceased, after eating a piece of meat, complained on the afternoon of Christmas Day of a bone lodged in her throat. A daughter tried various means to move the obstruction and seemingly was successful, as Mrs Boon feit easier. However, she was not well on Sunday night and a doctor was called on Monday morning, and Mrs Boon was taken to hospital for an X-ray examination. She lapsed into unconsciousness and. later died.
FARMER SERIOUSLY HURT (By TelegTapb.— press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Wednesday Crushed between a motor lorry and a post on his farm at Inglewood, Mr Fritz Sat tier, a single man, was admitted to the New Plymouth Hospital today in a fairly serious condition. Mr Saltier was assisting men to haul milling logs on his farm when the accident occurred.
