TELEGRAPHIC BUSINESS RETURNS FOR CHRISTMAS WEEK (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday Returns received from chief post offices throughout the Dominion reveal an all-round increase in telegraphic business during Christmas week, compared with last year. The following figures indicate the increases in the number of telegrams lodged at chief offices during the period from December 21 to 24, inclusive:— All codes, including greetings: 1937. 2 50,335; 1930, 231.794: increase. 18.541, or 8 per cent. Commercial telegrams: 1937, 80,535; 1936. 81.02 i: increase. 551 i. or 0.8 per cent. Greetings telegrams: 1937. 103.800; 1936. 15U.773; increase, 13,027, or 8.6 per cent. Compared with 1935 and 1934. the increases in all codes over those years were 48.584, or 2 4 per cent., and 90,089, or 56.8 per cent. Recently unveiled at Yerlaines-eu-Barrois .France . was a monument to Herrin : unothe.
