SLACK SHEEP SALE
FIRM BEEF MARKET VALUES AT FRANKTON Another slack sale was experienced for fat sheep at the weekly Frankton stock sale to-day when average pennings were forward in all sections. Late quotations were generally repeated for fat cattle and pigs. Ox beef was in average supply and the bulk of the steers comprised light and medium weight descriptions. Although the market was slow at times, last week’s values were obtained in the majority of cases. The top prise was £l6 7s Gd, with the bulk of the entries selling from £l2 to £l4 10s. A good entry of cows and heifers sold steadily at late rates. A good entry of fat sheep sold fairly steadily but prices were lower for all classes, both wethers and ewes being Is to 2s per head cheaper. Little change was noticed for fat pigs and baconers and porkers were cleared at recent rates. Quotations: — Medium steers, £l4 10s to £l6 7s Gd; smaller, £l2 2s Gd to £l4 10s; light, £9 18s to £lO 10s.
