NEGLIGENT DRIVING.
SEQUEL TO A COLLISION. BOXER’S AMPUTATED LEG. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Friday. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day before Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M. Albert Chefflngs, farmer, was charged with negligent driving of a motor-car and failing to show proper lights. Evidence was given by Constables Monson and Hinton respecting the collision of the car and a motor-cycle at Manawaru on March 24 last in which Charlie Farmer, the well-known boxer, sustained a broken leg necessitating amputation above the ankle in the Waikato Hospital. Defendant was fined £2 and costs on each charge.
