MRS EDITH WHARTON. PARIS, August 12. The death has occurred of Edith Wharton, the novelist, at the age of 7b years. SWALLOWING BONES. RESULTS IN TWO DcrtTHS. WELLINGTON, Friday. That swallowing a piece of bone during meats is lairly common and also that there is grave danger in rt was made apparent at two inquests to>day on hospital patients, one a baby wllff died on August 8 of pneumoma following the lodging ot a ot b one in tne winupipe, Ana me other a man of 23 wno died of septic infection following the swallowing of a piece of bone. The parents' evidence in the case of tne baoy was that it was a com plete mystery how the bone got rn the child’s throat. The child was given a spoon of cuctard immediately before the trouble set in. The child had, however, been playing on the floor and they had a small dog.
