HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING TO-NIGHT. Forty years ago a band of flower lovers met in Hamilton and a-s the outcome the Hamilton Horticultural Society was formed, the first show being held in December, 1897. There are still several of the original members living in Hamilton. The rules for the guidance of the society were drawn up by the late Mr A. The society has had its vicissitudes but is now in a strong position and there is evidence that it is receiving the support of the flower-loving public although there are still many who have not realised the beauty of the displays made at the society’s various shows. More members of the society are welcomed and as the annual meeting will he held tills evening at the Wattle Tea Rooms it Is hoped that intending members will be present or if prevented from attending will forward an intimation of their desire to Join the society. At ttie conclusion of the meeting Mr M. G. Gudex will give a talk on hardy perennials.
