LABOUR LEGISLATION.

EFFECTB ON COMMUNITY. ADDRESS BY MR R. COULTER. Mr R. Coulter, M.P., addressed a meeting of the Matangl branch of the Farmers’ Union in the Matangl Hall. There was a fair attendance. Dr. 11. E. Annett presided. In a two-hours’ address Mr Coulter outlined the legislation enacted by the Government, dealing particularly with the live Acts which most directly affected the farming community, and traced their effects and reactions, particularly in relation to the dairying industry. Mr Coulter also outlined the proposed legislation for the coming S3Ssion. In thanking Mr Coulter for his attendance and for what he described as the most masterly exposition of the Government’s policy he had ever listened to, Dr. Annett deprecated the system of party politics, for after listening to Mr Coulter, all those present must be convinced that all farmers’ interests should be practically identical and that it was evident that the Government was making a genuine attempt to do justice to the farmer.
