CORONATION FILMS.

IN BEAUTIFUL COLOUR. AT THE CIVIC THEATRE. The technicolour film of the Coronation was shown at the 'Civic Theatre last night, and made a deep impression. It. is a little over 1000 feet In length, in natural Technicolour which focuses fifteen hundred years of British tradition and symbolism Into the short space of time occupied by the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

Opening with beautiful views of the Royal castles and interesting paintings of previous monarchs. the film passes to the events which focussed the attention of the world on London last month, and gives prominence not only to the procession and the ceremony, but to personages, Jewels, robes, royal coach, and other aspects of the great event.

Intimate glimpses are seen of the Royal Family—the King, dignified and gracious; Queen Elizabeth, beautiful and human; Queen Mary, a regal figure; and the. princesses Elizabeth and Margaret Bose, charming and appealing. Finally there is some very effective grouping. With all the pageantry there is a dignity that is typically English.

II was all very interesting and impressive. and when “ God Save the King” was introduced into the film last, night Ihe. audience rose in silent tribute. Earlier in the programme there was a black and while film of the’ Coronation ceremony in Westminster Abbey xx hi eli was also very interesting. Close-up scenes were siiown. and the Archbishop’s exhortation and the King’s response were heard plainly. Some of the “ shots ’’ of the vastness and grandeur of Ihe Abbey xvere very beautiful, and in such a setting the ceremony took on an added brilliance and impressiveness.
