SHEEP UNCHANGED

FRANKTON STOCK SALE. BLOW BEEF MARKET. FAT PIGS REMAIN STEADY. Average pennings were forward in all sections at the weekly Fr&nkton stock sale to-day, when there was no marked variation from rates ruling last week. Fat pigs and sheep showed practically no change hut beef was on offer In light supply, the entry comprising good medium to heavy weight bullocks. The demand was steady from a smaller bench of buyers and values generally represented fully late rates.

Heavy sorts ranged from £l2 to £l3, with medium pens selling from £lO os to £ll 15s. The market was dull during the early sales for cow and heifer beef, and prices moved in vendors’ favour. Only average quality characterised the entry but there were some choice pens included. A full yarding of calves sold readily usually at late rates, while another fair entry of potter hulls met a keen sale at unchanged values.

There was again a steady market for fat. sheep, although the quality was not up to that of last week. No choice wh ethers were on offer hut good fat pens changed hands at last week’s values. Ewes were unchanged, while lambs met with a brighter sale although values were substantially the same as last Tuesday.

Fat pigs were forward in increase-d numbers and apart from minor fluctuations the market was the same as last sale.

Quotations: Heavy prime steers. £l2 to £l3; medium, £ll to £ll 14s; light. £9 10s to £lO 12s; prime cows and heifers. £7 5s to £7 19s.

Sheep: Fat wethers 27s 6d to 29s 6d; unfinished wethers 25s 6d to 26s 9d; extra prime ewes 17s to 18s unfinished ewes 12s 6d to 15s 9d: fat lambs 25s to 30s 6d: lighter 22s ta 245; shorn 21s 6d to 24s 6d. Fat Pigs: Baconers 47s to 70s; porkers 30s to 465.
