INTEREST IN THE POI. LA MERI AT ROTORUA. Speaking after her performance last evening, Madame La .Meri expressed great interest in the Maori poi dances which she had been studying enthusiastically at Rotorua during the last week while undergoing massage and baths for her injured leg. She had spent hours with the Maoris each day, Madame said, and the poi was not easy to learn, but she had picked up one, and the principles of two others. She hoped to return early next month to continue her studying of the intricate movements.
