LADIES’ HOCKEY.

COMPETITION PROGRESSES. LEAMINGTON AND OLD GIRLS. The competition of the Waikato Ladles’ Hockey Association was continued at Boyes Park on Saturday, when Leamington and Technical Old Girls B took part in a lively, evenlycontested game. The result was a draw, both teams scoring one goal each. The game was without any spectacular movements and the standard of play was not as high as has been witnessed during the year. Nurses were to have met Technical A, but the game was defaulted. Both Technical old Girls and Leamington took the field without assuranoe, and although the encounter was a keen one there was no co-operation when either team -became in possession. The early part of the game was marked by desultory hitting, with little attempt at organised attack by either side. Occasionally Technical gained ground, but could not penetrate very far, the Leamington full backs, Misses Russo and Gibbons, playing soundly and clearing with well-directed hits. Play in mid-field continued until Leamington pressed, gradually gaining territory. Miss Shaw took the bait Into : the circle and notched a smart goal, to place her side one goal ahead.’ Leamington had the advantage of the remainder of the first period, which concluded shortly after Miss Shaw had made another brilliant solo attempt. She had made a tricky run from the half-way line and was only thwarted by the goalie. Spirited Conclusion. A livelier exhibition was seen after tle Interval.
