PLAY IN HAMILTON. ■ SOUTH AUCKLAND TOURNAMENT. The South Auckland championship tournament was concluded at St. Andrews on Saturday. The stormy weather continued throughout the three days, but the links were In excellent order for the conclusion of play. The championship was won by Tad Morpeth, of Titirangi, who beat J. Pountney, Hamilton, by one hole. The match was square at the turn and Morpeth won the next two holes tn bogey figures. Pountney won ihe 14th and 15th to square the match, but he lost the 16th and the last two holes were halved. The St. Andrews match was won by R. D. Harding, who defeated A. Marcroft by 4 and 2. This match provided the 'high light of the tournament as the winner, who Is the club champion and failed to qualify for the South Auckland evept, was the only player to break 80 during the tournament. In the final of the handicap match he went round in 72, one under the scratch score of the course. The following was his card:— Out: 3,4, 5,5, 3,4, 6,4, 5,—39. In: 2,3, 4,4, 4,4, 4. 3, 5—33. The following are the results of Saturday’s play:— South Auckland Championship, semifinal:—T. Morpeth (Titirangi) beat C. B. Wake (Hamilton) at the 20th; j. Pountney (Hamilton) beat C. I-lotson (Otorohanga), 2 and 1. Final: T. Morpeth beat J. Pountney, 1 up. St. Andrews Match. —Semi-final: A. Marcroft (Hamilton), boat. W. <H. Sleep (Te Aroha). 5 and 4; R. 'D. Harding (Hamilton) beat L. 11. Horton (Maungakiekie), 3 and 1. Final: R. D. Harding beat A. Marcroft, 4 and 2. Medal Handicap. Some good cards were returned in the medal handicap played in ihe morning, the following being the best: F. Fisher (Hunterville), SO—l9 61: C. B. Wake (Hamilton), 81—8— 73; R. .T. Love (Hamilton), 83—9— 74; A. Marcroft (Hamilton), 87 —it 76: W. S. Goosman (Morrinsville), 89—13—76: A. Sandel (Taumarunui), 84 —7—77 ; R. D. Harding (Hamilton"', 83 —6 —77. The best cards in the afternoon hogev were:—J. M. Horton and H. W. Fisher, 3 up; A. Sandel and E. Fouhev, 2 up; G. A. Wilkes and A. E. McCracken, i up; A. M. Fahey and 11. .T. Radford. R. S.
