The henrlng of five charges of using an illegal Instrument, pre—ferred agalnst a Ha‘stlngs women; Isabel Annie Aves, alias Oralke, commenced to-day. It was stated by Inspector Fltzpetrlck that the ofi‘ences to whlch the charges related were slmllar In character. While dlgglng on accused's property the police had dlsoovered the bodles of two Infant children and the remains of about 20 others. The names of some girl witnesses were stutpressed. A single girl gave evidence as to the success of an operation performed by .the accused. She was told to leave I the premises as a police visit was pend—mg. A luxi—clriver stated that he drove the previous witness to Dunnevirke Irom the accused‘s house. ‘ Dr. Dawson confirmed the fact of i‘delivery. which probably occurred a week before his examination of wit—- ! ness.
