BUSINESS OF SESSION. PARLIAMENT IN RECESS. LIST OF MEASURES PASSED. (From our Parliamentary Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Friday. After brief valedi-ctory speeches and the singing by members of the Nationai Anthem, the live-week adjournment of the session of Prriiament was taken in the House of Representatives at 8.25 pm. yesterday. The House met at 2.30 p.m., but adjourned almost immediately afterwards until the "ringing of the bells” to enable the Legislatne Council to complete the remaining stages of the Broadcasting Bill. it met again to receive the report from the Council. and then took a further brief adjournment while the Royal Assn‘ was being obtained to the last or the Bills passed during this period or the session. On receipt of this. brief speeches were made by the Prime Minister. the Rt. Hon. .\l. J. Savage. the Leader of the Opposition, the Rt. Hon. G. \V. Forbes, and the Speaker. the Hon. \V. E. Barnard. ' Before the adjournment, Mr Savage said he wished to extend his personal thanks as well as those of the Government for the advice and assistance given during that. part of the session already completed The legislation was fairly difficult at times, and per—haps the advice was cut short on occasions. but at the same time he wished to thank the Opposition for its efforts to see the legislation was in shape and the public interest con—served. Sense of Gratitude. _ “It is our first experience in this position and we feel a deep sense of gratitude to those who assisted us along the road, as well as to those who have been shooting at us as 'we went along," said Mr Savage. Mr Forbes said the members of the Opposition felt they had been treated with every courtesy. ” The Prime Minister," he said, “has at times had to curtail the advice so freely and abundantly given, but we on this side or the House hear him no ill—feeling. I understand that when we come back after the adjournment the secret of ‘where is the money to come from’ will he revealed and we and the country generally are looking forward to that. " Mr Forbes said he knew the heavy load the Government had to carry and he thought it was wise after its first burst to take an adjournment to consider future measures.

Both Mr Savage and Mr Forbes} thanked the officers of the House for rtheir services and extended to Mr Speaker appreciation of the courtesy they had received from him. Mr Barnard returned thanks for the courtesy extended to him during his occupancy of the chalilf‘. and also thanked the chairman of committees, Mr E. J. Howard. for the help he ‘had received from him.
