ANGLE PARKING
PERMANENTLY ADOPTED. MORRINSVILLE DEBATE. (Times Representative.) ‘ MORRINSVILLE, Friday. The question of angle parking for motor ours was debated at some length by the Morrinsvllle Borough Council last evening. when a report was received from the group trafilo inspector recommending that thls system should be permanently adopted in the borough. The chairman of the works committee, Mr W. .\lorrlce. explained that angle parking had recently been adopted for an experimental period, but that 111 View of the favourable reports received he now moved that the system he continued.
Mr \N. Hetherington strongly opposed the proposal, contending that owing to the narrowness of Morriniville streets angle parking was a most dangerous system. He disagreed with the iraflle inspector‘s report that the new system had resulted 1n freedom from accidents. Although there had been no cases of persons having been injured. he had personally seen lustanoes of damage being caused to valuable cars through the new system. A serious avoident was bound to occur if angle parking was con—tinued.
The Mayor, Mr W. T. Osborne. suggested that 8.5 a possible alternative a system or parallel parking with stated intervals between cars might adequately meet the situation. He moved as an amendment that the matter he referred back to the works committee to evolve an alternative scheme on the lines suggested. The Mayor‘s amendment was defeated by 4 votes to 3 and the system of angle parking was permanently adopted. ———-:,—-—_
