VISIT To OATHIDIAL. EMPIRE DAY ADDRESS. The Old and New Testament les—sons were read by the Governor-Gen-eral, Viscount Galway. when he attended Martins at the St. Peter‘s Cathedral yesterday morning. His Excellency's visit was unexpected and only a small congregation was present. The service was conducted by the Dean of Hamilton, the Very Rev. 'l‘. P. Weatherhog, assisted by the Rev. F'. 0. Dawson and the Rev. P. C. 5. Sergei. After extending a welcome to Viscount Galwey on behalf of the Diocese, the Dean. in his address, referred to the significance of Empire Day. observed and appreciated throughout the British comity of nations. It served as a reminder. he said. each year of ithe inestimable privileges which belonged to British subjects—privileges ‘.which were only fully appreciated by ‘those who had occasion to live outside British rule. “It is fit and proper that religion should encourage us to see God‘s purpose in the destiny of the Empire." Dean \Veatherhos continued. “Through many centuries, by many diverse means and extraordinary motives and sometimes methods which, in this ens lightened age, we cannot approve, a plan has taken shape, wielding the Empire into a great commonwealth of nations. We thank God for the privileges which we gain as members at this Empire.“
