FRANKTON SCHOOL. ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING. CHILDREN’S CONCERT PROGRAMME Incorporated in the annual prizegiving, a variety concert arranged by the children themselves was given at the final ceremony of the Frankton Primary School prior to the Christmas holidays. There was a good attendance of parents and pupils when the headmaster, Mr A. S. Cllffe, presented the prizes won by the children during the vear. A" feature of the prize-giving was that prizes were awarded not only to the best scholar in each class but also ■to the girl or boy who had shown the greatest progress during the year. Following was the prize list: Dux of school —Girls, Susan Tyler; boys, Frank Wigzell; Standard i, Nigel Taylor, Nellie Kelmer; Standard 2, Mabel Ritchie, Jack Cameron; Standard 3, Kathleen Pointon, D. McDonald; Standard 4a, Joan Franks, Robert Pascoe; Standard 4b, Trevor Polglase, George Christie; Standard 5, Alan McLean, Ray Parkinson; Standard 6, Irene Calbert, Valerie Culley. Thrift essay prizes—Standard 6, Ray Melrose; Standard 5, Marcia Ferrall; Standard 4, Daphne Johnson; Standard 3, Norma Sweetman; Standard 2, Mervyn Cooper. Special prizes for neatness in science work —Standard 4, Bernice Gibson; Standard 5, June Tanner; Standard 0, Gwen Miller. Essay prizes, Dorothy Green and Lorna Borlind. Cricket bats for best batting aggregates —Junior, Bob Muir; senior, Len McNamara. Entertainment for Parents. Prior to the prize-giving the following programme of songs and dances was given by the children: Chorus, Standard 6 girls; songs, Shirley C.ubb; piano solo, Valerie Gulley; recitation, Hazel Agnew; sailor's hornpipe, Shirley Gubb; folk dance, pupils; recitation, Dulcie McLean; Irish jig, Helen Gilmore; folk dance, pupils; piano solo, Gwen Miller; play, “Little Boy Blue,” Standard 0 girls; play, “The Royal Kitchen,” Standard 5.
