The New Zealand University hockey players drew with Suva to-day in the first test match, 'the score being two all. Suva scored in the first minute, Martin netting. Even play ensued In the remainder of the half. Early In the second half Ford flicked into Struthers and the latter scored. Suva returned immediately after the bully and a hot shot from Boyer scored. Finally near the end, Walter sent out to Walton, who centred and Huston scored.

The visitors outmanoeuvred Suva with their stick work, but lacked combination. Suva had the advantage of speed. Ford described the ground as the fastest he had ever played on.
