UNEMPLOYED WORKERS.

I SECOND BIRTHDAY PARTY. A very pleasant time was spent at (he second birthday party of the Hamilton Women’s Auxiliary of'Unemployed Workers. The president, Mrs Snookes, welcomed visitors and friends and a brief business meeting was held prior to the social. •Members expressed strong displeasure in the action of the Hamilton Borough Council in forcing relief workers to remain on their jobs in cold, wet weather, and resolutions _ were passed accordingly. The question of requisition forms for wages was also discussed and it was decided to act further in this matter. Mesdames Snookes, Collins, Sanderson and Liddington waited upon' the Unemployment Bureaux for further information upon this and also with regal'd to milk and ration allowance. Correspondence was received from the Minister for 'Health in regard to sustenance allowances and hospital board relief. A party of visitors from Iluntly, which included members of the Maori Unemployed Workers’ Movement, was present, and it was decided to co-operate to obtain equal rales for Maori unemployed. After the conclusion of the business items were given as follows, Mrs T. Awcra acting as accompanist: Dances, Mesdames Edmonds and Jones; elocution, Mesdames Snookes, Renolff and Collins; songs, Mesdames Jones and Warren. A humorous character sketch was given by Mrs Sanderson and much enjoyed. The candles on the birthday cake were lit by the Hamilton vice-presi-dents, and Mrs 'Connelly, the Huntly president, was then called upon to blow them out. Mrs Snookes then put the knife into the cake, Mrs T. Parker, a visitor, cutting the first slico. The hostesses for the morning tea were Mesdames Renolff, Davies and Collins.
