beef remains firm. KEEN DEMAND FOR SIIEEP. SMALL ENTRY AFFECTS VALUES. The buoyant tone ruling at the Frank lon yards for the past fortnight was again evident at the weekly sale to-day. Current values were maintained in most instances, while the short entry of sheep caused prices in this section to rise sharply. Last week’s good prices were maintained for a medium yarding of ox beef. An eager bench of buyers competed briskly, paying prices up to £lO 17s (id. Cow and heifer beef met a steady market, extra prime sorts being cleared readily at recent Quotations. Prices for ail classes in this section, however, were just a shade below those of last week. An extra light yarding of sheep had the effect of advancing values substantially. Keen competition resulted in prices up to 32s 9d being paid for extra prime wethers, the best price at Frankton this year. Prime maiden owes sold as high as 295, while other classes also sold at advanced rates. There was little variation in rates for all classes of fat pigs, while Die prevailing level of values was maintained for stores.
