SNOW IN HAMILTON.
SLIGHT FALL AT WHITIORA. EARLY MORNING EXPERIENCE. Had the residents of Hamilton realised yesterday morning that there had been a fall of snow, albeit a small one, during the night they would not perhaps have greatly wondered as the frigid atmosphere seemed more suited to the Arctic regions than to this district. There must, however, bo incredulity In the minds of some when they are confronted with the Information that snow actually fell during the early hours of Monday morning. Tlie news of a snow fall usually conjures up visions of snow-balling, but the fall which was seen at Wliitiora by several residents was not sufficient for snow sports. Nevertheless there was quite enough in ono resident’s garden, at least, to make a good snow-ball or two. When Mr 11. Simpson, of Whitiora, walked out on his verandah at 6.30 yesterday morning ho was surprised to see a substantial' coating of snow on the railing. He also noticed a small drift of snow against the hedge surrounding the Whitiora Bowling Green. Asked whether he was certain that the substance was snow, Mr Simpson replied that he had been a resident of the Old Country and therefore could bo expected to recognise snow when lie saw it.
