ENJOYABLE CONCERTS.

FJRBT GHURCH FUNCTION. APPRECIATIVE. AUDIENCE. Despite the very inclement weather there was an excellent attendance at a concert given by the First Church Choir for the purpose of raising funds for the First Presbyterian Church. The standard and variety of the programme proved especially enjoyable. to the audience, who voiced its appreciation by repeated applause. Following was the programme:— Opening chorus, “Cheero"; concerted, “The Zuyder Zee,” Misses I. 'Choat, A. Smith and Z. Atkins; solo and chorus, “Home Little Maori, 'Home," Mrs H. L. Table; play, “The Dear Departed,” Messrs C. Choat, B. Boswell, L. Table, and Misses B. Murray, Z. Atkins and G. Jones; novelty items, chorus; recitation, Miss A. Dempster; novelty duet, Messrs Boswell and Table; play, “And the Deaf Shall Hear,” Messrs L. Table, E. Truman, T. Farquar, and Misses A. 'Dempster and Mrs L. Table; finale, “See You again,” the choir.

HUNTLY METHODIST CHURCH. PRESENTATION OF PLAYS. A most successful tea and rally was lield by the Iluntly Methodist Church circuit at Hun'tly on Wednesday. There was a very ( large gathering, and the rally was the most successful that has been held. Visitors I were present from Whitikahu, Waerenga, I Ohlnewai, Taupiri, Ruawaro and other dlstrlcts. Ills Worship the Mayor, Mr W. C. E. George, welcomed the gathering. Great Interest was taken In the competition for the best play, for which live entries were received. Each play was well acted by the children, and the judges, Mrs F. McDonald, or Iluntly, and the Rev. 11. Peat, of Hamilton, had a difficult task In selecting the winner, to whom a silver cup was presented. The winning play was entitled “The White-washed Wall,” taken from the book, “Tom Sawyer,” and presented by Whitikahu children. The second prize also wen't to Whitikahu for the play entitled “The Highland Gentleman.” The third prize was won bv Huntly ror the presentation or “That Girl Again.” Quartettes were rendered by Rev. Day, Messrs W. M. Shaw and J. J. Turner, and Mrs Turner, and solos by Rev. Day,'Mrs R. McCallum (Whitikahu),. Mrs S. Clark (Taupiri), an'd duets by Misses C. and G. Lewis (Taupiri). Refore the concert concluded Rev, Peat addressed the gathering and congratulated those responsible for the success of tho function, especially mentioning the church minister, the Rev. Day. Mr F. Reekie, or Taupiri, circuit steward, complimented the children on their splendid performance.
