ROUTE FOR STOCK

MELVILLE TO FRANKTON. SPECIAL ROAD SUGGESTED. The desirability of forming a road from the end of Lake Crescent to connect with Killarney Boad through the. land nn the western side of the Hamilton Lake was pointed out, In a communication from the Hamilton Borough Council received at a meeting of the Waipa County Council at Te Awamutu yesterday. It was pointed out that the route from the vicinity of Melville to the saleyards at Franklon was at present via Ruakiwi Road, Lake Bond and Kent Street, and, as these highways and their many intersections, were carrying a considerable volume of traffic they were not very suitable as stock routes. The proposed route would enable drovers to eliminate many of the troubles which they encountered at present. The work Involved would cost approximately £IBOO and It was suggested that the council should appoint representatives to confer with representatives of the borough to discuss the project. The proposed exit through Richmond Street into Killarney Road was explained Ivy the engineer (Mr J. W. Civil) and a sub-committee comprising the chairman (Mr S. C. Mqcky), Mr E. F. Peaeoeke, Hie clerk (Mr T. Grant) and Ihe engineer, was appointed lo confer with the borough authorities.
