Celebrating his 80th. birthday today, the Governor-General (Sir Isaac Isaacs) said that’ he was so well that he felt merely middle-aged- • -Many hundreds of telegrams and cables of congratulations and good wishes, were received by Sir Isaac. •' Chatting informally, Sir Isaac remarked that he was in excellent health, and was feeling very well indeed. ; “.Someone has said,” he added, “ that it ,is not how old you are that counts, but how you are old. The way I am old to-day on my 80th. birthday, is that I have just entered the infancy of middle age.” Enjoys Long Walks. When in Canberra, Sir Isaac generally tramps about six miles a day, beginning with a brisk walk before breadfast. To-day he walked two miles before breakfast at 8.30, and began in his office at 0 o’clock. He took another walk at noon, had lunch at i o’clock, listened to overseas radio stations on his short-wave set, and was back at work at 2.15.
