BOARD MEETINQ HELD. NEW FOOTBALL GROUNDS. . CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday. i A meeting or the Cambridge Domain \ Board was hold to-day when there were I present Messrs S. Lewis (chairman), J. Hooker, 0. M. Watt, Edgar Janies, C. if. Prlestloy, N. R. Souter and the secretary, Mr R. s. Hanna. Mr Souter reported that he had Investigated the matter or securing nameplates Tor trees In the Domain and produced a sample plate which would cost is 2d. Mr ■Souter was appointed to arrange lor the naming of 50 trees. In reply to a letter to the Department of internal Affairs requesting permission to get rid of pukekos on I.ako To Koutu, a communication was received stating that ns the pukeko Is a native or New Zealand It seemed fitting that it should he allowed a place in a public domain. The Cambridge Rugby Union wrote stating that, having been In communication with Messrs J. Ferguson and R. Simpson, lessees of the Domain Board reserves, opposite the water tower, as to the suitability of this property as a roothali playing area, the unloir wished to Inform the hoard that In the event of requiring the land Tor a football ground the lessees were both agreeable to a transfer or their respective leases, unconditionally, to the union In October, 1030. The chairman stated that the area corr- , corned of lo acres was donned as a recreation reserve, and the hoard should support and foster sport on its land. The board agreed to support the transfer of the lease If required.
