GORDONTON NOTES.

GAMES EVENING. At the weekly games evening there was- a good attendance (despite -the Inclement weather. The, finals of,'.the badminton tournament were played,' Miss I. Mayall and Mr F. Thrupp being the winners. The euchre tables were well patronised, and the winners were Mrs J. Goonan and (Mr 'G. Glark. The consolation prizes were won by Mrs Faville and Mr T . Surich.

Badminton. lOn Wednesday evening members of the Rototuna Badminton Club played a -return match with -Gordonton In the local hall. Some good games were witnessed, the visitors defeating the home team toy 17 .sets to'9. Supper was served, after which Mr E. Carson, on behalf of the Rototuna team, returned thanks if or the pleasant -evening spent.

Social and Dance. A very jolly 'social organised by the Women’s Institute, was held In the Gordonton Ilall on Thursday evening. Dancing to the excellent music supplied by Mrs A. G. Bell and the Maori Boys, and an attractive programme of items, made the evening very enjoyable Following were the items: Elocution, Mrs Brooklet and Master Brian Alderwick; songs, Misses M. Car-swell; J. Peach, L. O’Heam and Mr Warn Pompey, Messrs. R. and T. Forsman and Maori ;Trio; harp recital, Miss M. Williamson; play, “ Granny Makes Up," by Mesdames Saxton and Alderwick and Miss -L. O’Hearn.

A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss- S. Cleland and Mr T. Thomson, and a statue log cabin caused great amusement. Mr P. Edwards was M.C.
