Mr V. N. Hubble has been appointed Crown Solicitor In Auckland during the absence from New Zealand of Mr V. R. Meredith, manager of the All Blacks team to tour Britain.
Colonel J. N. McCarroll, of Whangarei, has been appointed a member of the North Auckland Mortgage Adjustment Commission, replacing Mr A. J. McKay, who recently resigned.
Messrs P. C. Lewis, E. B. Booth, G. A. Birch, H. W. Brinkman, W. Alexander, A. Smith, D. C. OPurdie, (Auckland), J. M. McLean and S. A. Ogilvie (Wellington) are anions the guests at Hie Hamilton Hotel.
Mr M. Geddes, formerly of New Plymouth, has been elected a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. He has been an active worker in the New Zealand Astronomical Society and is the discoverer of the comet which hears his name.
M r L. Campbell, accountant of the Bank of New South Wales at Hamilton, lias been prompted lo manage the branch at Warkworth. Mr 11. N. Beckett, of the Karangahape Road branch has been transferred to he accountant at Hamilton.
Mr John Mulgan, of Auckland, has been appointed to a»ppsi : tiofl in the Clarendon Press (Oxford University Vress) in Oxford. Mr Mulgan graduated at Auckland University College and lias been at Merlon College, Oxford, for the past two years.
Dr. and Mrs. L. A. Lewis returned lo New Zealand from London on the Doric Star, which arrived at Auckland yesterday. Dr. Lewis, who. was formerly medical superintendent of ■ the King George V. liospital at Rotorua, went to London about 15 months ago to study for the diploma in oplhalmie medicine and surgery. Upon gaining Hie diploma Dr. Lewis was appointed to the staff of the Royal Opthalmic Hospital, Moorilekls, London.
