The heavy seas along the coast are moderating. - Reports of damage have been received from all parts of the coast. Repairs to buildings, promenades, seawalls and roads along the waterfront will cost many thousands of pounds. Scores of launches and sailing boats are badly damaged. A number broke their moorings and wero smashed to matchwood.

Officers of vessels arriving in Sydney described the gale as the worst they had experienced in the Tasman. The Nollington Court, entered port with strained plates, smashed lifeboats, ventilators and hatches, and stores for the whole voyage rendered useless by salt water.

The coastal services were resumed last night.
