PLAYERS AT CAMBRIDGE.

UNSEEMLY SIDE-LINE AFFAIR. (Special to Times.) ■CAMBRIDGE, Sunday, Immediately following the ordering off of fwo players in a junior club match at Victoria Square on Saturday afternoon there was an unseemly affair on the side-line when a Maori spectator attacked one of 'the players ordered: off. Blows were struck and for a'time it appeared as if there would be an ugly scene. However, the prompt attention by the sub-Union president, Mr W. Drake, the secretary, Mr G. J. S. McKenzie, and other officials, restored order. The upshot was an instruction to the two players ordered off and Hie two Maori spectators concerned, to appear before the management committee of the sub-union on Monday night when the affair will be investigated.. The incidents mentioned were associated with the Maungatautari A v. Ilautapu junior game, these two teams (Hie former an alt Maori-one) holding prominent positions on the competition ladder. The game was controlled by Mr C. Wallace, and during ils progress lie had occasion to order off the Held a Maungatautari player, “Scotty” Wilson, for., allegedly striking an opponent. A few minutes later play was held up again and this time a Ilautapu player, W- Campbell, was seen making his way lo.tlic side-line for a similar offence. This player had no sooner reached the side-line when he was attacked by a Maori spectator. Blows were struck and another .Maungatautari supporter, joined in Hie affair. The affray was assuming alarming proportions when the rugby officials intervened .'and ’ eventually restored order.

INCIDENTS IN HAMILTON. Two players were ordered off tho field in tiie main match on Rugby Park on Saturday when Frankton met Old Boys. There were several occasions when feeling ran high in this match and after issuing a - warning the referee, Lev. P. Sergei caught Harold Hall (Frankton) and Geoff. ChiUy (Old Hoys) exchanging blows and ho sent them both off the Held.
