VIBIT TO ROTORUA. STIRRING MAORI WELCOME. ROTORUA, Friday. In fine weather after heavy and continuous rain overnight, a memorable reception and welcome was extended by the Arawa Maoris to-day to the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, who, accompanied -by Viscountess Galway, is paying his first official visit to the Rotorua district. -Representatives of the -Arawas -had gathered from the most distant parts for the welcome. After the presentation of 'the chiefs and chieftalnesses, officers of the komlti maraes, Arawa Trust Board and returned -soldiers, the memorial concerning the lOpcpe engagement was presented to His Excellency who accepted it, saying he would forward it to the responsible Ministers with the hope it would receive the most favourable consideration, and 'that they would toe able to meet the request of the petitioners.
In tho afternoon the Vice-Regal party visited Whakarewarewa, the blue and green lakes, and Lake Tarawera.
