CAREER OF CRIME.

POST OFFICE ROBBED. THREE MEN CHARGED. COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. ROTORUA, Friday. A sequel to a discovery at the Paengaroa post ofilce this week occurred to-day, when thfee young men, Percy John Henry Dixon, John Hamilton Watt and Allan Charles Barker, appeared before Messrs W. L. Richards and 0. L. Coleman, J.P.’s, in the Rotorua . Police Court. They pleaded guilty to charges of breaking and entering tlie post ofilce at Paengaroa, near Te Puke, on or about May 27, and stealing a safe and contents and a mailbag containing postal packets, the totai value being £7O, and of attempting to break and enter the warehouse of the Farmers’ Trading Company at Paengaroa with intent to commit a crime.

Accused also pleaded guilty to the theft at Okere, on or about May 27, of a drum of kerosene valued at 12s lOd, the property of the Public Works Department. Barker and Watt further pleaded guilty to a charge of counselling Dixon to forge a post ofilce Savings Bank withdrawal slip for £IOO, purporting to be signed by E. H. Brightwell. Dixon admitted forging the slip. Detective White, of Hamilton, who conducted the prosecution, described the arrest of the three accused in Rotorua, while in possession of a motor-car rented from an Auckland firm. He said he obtained from them statements in which full confessions of guilt were made. Accused were committed to the Supreme Court at Hamilton for sentence.
